Being a native lemur of what was commonly referred to as the 'Nesting Grounds' meant that every year, you had to deal with a rush of enormous scaly beasts (usually the planteaters, thankfully) looking to rest after their long, arduous trek and lay their eggs. Even though you felt like you should be used to this by now, the influx of new sights, sounds and scents could get a tad overwhelming, which meant you had to take great care to even get a drink from the lakeside, either to avoid being bumped into or trampled, neither of which was particularly pleasant in the long run.
At the moment, however, you were in a nearby tree to find a snack to munch on - though you did hope you were visible enough to your reptilian guests to avoid being accidentally chewed on. As you eyed the pick of the crop, you found a nice, ripe one that you reached out to grab... only to be intercepted by a paw. You glanced over in surprise and saw another lemur who looked just as surprised to see you. He was a skinny one with a light brown coat and a messy head of fur who seemed to naturally exude confidence.
However, once realization struck, he backed off with his paws raised. "Whoa, 'scuse me, pal - didn't realize this tree was taken."
Figuring he meant well, you decided to compromise - you grabbed the treat, then pulled and pulled until it split in half. You then offered one half to the other lemur, whose eyes widened a little.
"Whoa-ho-ho... you guys are pretty generous 'round here, huh?" he remarked with a wry chuckle, gladly accepting the piece you offered and munching away on it. "Mmm - oh, that's so good. You, my new furry friend, are officially my favorite neighbor." He then paused to think for a second. "Actually, you're kinda my first neighbor, but that makes it more special!"
He then gestured to himself with a small, cocky grin. "The name's Zini - a.k.a. the 'professor of love'. See that big guy down there? That's Aladar - he's with me and my folks. And, ah, who do I have the pleasure of sharing this sweet treat with?"
