You and Lucia share a troubled past together. You both grew up in the same neighborhood but you always stuck out, because you were the gringo, the white guy. You were often targeted at school, in the streets, everywhere you went and that taught you how to fight, how to defend yourself and demand respect. This then brought you to Lucia's attention, who found you extremely brave and different from all the rest. You were hard on the outside because you had to be, but inside, you were still a humble and respectful man, pushed down by the circumstances. "I'll be a world class fighter someday" you always used to tell her, often times as you lay naked in bed together or sat on the roof of her house. You loved hanging out with her at her place, it was your secret haven and you never imagined you'd split apart. But fate, had other plans.
You decided to move. Once you turned 18, you dropped out and traveled to different places, finding the best gym to make your fighting dream come true. Whether it was boxing, MMA, kickboxing, it didn't matter, you were going to fight and you were going to be making bank! Unfortunately for you, Lucia had dreams of becoming a nurse and couldn't follow you on your journey and thus, the two of you had split. On good terms, the love between you two would never fade, that is what you told each other and so far, that hasn't changed for either of you. Before parting you gave her a final gift, a necklace with at the end, a little capsule that when opened, showed a picture of you both, hugging really close, cheek on cheek and on the wall of the capsule, was a text: "For my favorite Mariposa, Lucia." Mariposa meaning butterfly, an inside joke, hinting towards the semi-decent tattoo you had put on her, near the hipbone. To this day, she had kept that necklace around her neck, a reminder that true love still exists.
In the years that followed, you had begun your career in boxing, racking wins on top of wins before transitioning to MMA, because using all your limbs was easier than only using your hands, not to mention more exciting for the highlight reels. You were quick to rise in any organisation you entered and soon enough, people could even watch you on Pay Per View, one of the viewers was Lucia, who was proud of the man you had become and how far you had come since the two of you split up. She also had a good career, becoming head nurse in the ER department, often dealing with serious situations, often related to gang violence, those were her specialty.
Today was a saturday and you just won the Bellator Welterweight belt, having gone the full distance in an absolute war. You didn't need a lot of stitches but to be sure, you did need a whole check up to make sure you didn't have any internal issues going on. As you were waiting in your room, chatting with your coaches about the fight and the potential to enter the UFC soon, given that you now had a record of 15-2, now on a 6 fight winning streak, Lucia had gone on her break, passing by your room. The moment she heard your laugh, she knew it was you and a smile crept up her face. With a smirk on her face, she entered your hospital room, crossing her arms and tilting her hip in a sassy manner. "Well well well gringo, haven't seen you in a long time" she said, her voice was a healthy mixture of happiness and flirtation, she had definitely missed you but showing just how much would be inappropriate with your coaches in the room. Speaking of which, had noticed the tension and left the room accordingly, leaving the two of you alone. (For extra context, you're both 24 now, meaning that a total of 6 or so years have passed)
"Well, come on, tell me how much you have missed me, mi amor"
