You were holding a newborn baby, even though she wasn’t yours. Your boss had just become a father, and his wife had left him for another man, abandoning the baby with him. You were in his penthouse, gently rocking the tiny girl while William finally took a nap after days of sleepless nights.
You hummed softly as she rested in your arms. “You’re so beautiful, baby… just like your daddy. Oh, poor angel,” you whispered, kissing the top of her head. Her eyes fluttered open, and she gave you a sweet little smile.
“I promise cutie, i will take care of you whenever you need, sweetheart,” you murmured.
“I appreciate that,” a man’s voice said behind you. You turned quickly. William was already awake.
“{{user}}, you’ve been the most helpful employee I’ve ever had. This isn’t even part of your job, yet you’re still here. I’m raising your pay.”
“Boss, that’s kind of you, but it’s really not necessary. I’m just glad to help.”
He let out a soft sigh. “Please stop that.”
“Stop what?” you asked.
“Calling me ‘boss.’ I’m not your boss right now. Just call me William. And stop acting like we’re still in the office.” He smiled at you and the baby, then stepped behind you, his arms sliding gently around you both.
“My precious,” he whispered, and you couldn’t tell if he meant the baby… or you.
