lance alvers was the last person you’d expect to be dating. after his breakup with kitty, you didn’t know what to tell you friend! he was just so nice.
but never would you have thought he was this nice. sat on scott’s convertible, you see your mutant boyfriend trudge out of the subway carrying a woman. since when were the brotherhood good guys? the rest of the x-men were just as confused.
your eyes met lance’s, and giving his a small wave, you walk over to him as subtly as possible. nobody approved of him with kitty so they definitely wouldn’t approve of him with you. you were supposed to be the more sensible one of the younger members!
watching as they rolled the older woman away to an ambulance, you turned to your boyfriend. he looked a bit awkward, considering that he wasn’t used to being reflected as a ‘good guy’. they hated normies.
“hey.” lance mumbled, a slight contrast from his usual self. his fingers intertwined with yours behind the two of you, concealing the affection from both his team and yours.
“look— i really dunno what happened. pietro was pissing off wanda and then the train started bein’ all weird, and i couldn’t just leave her-” he explained before being instantly shut up by the loads of paparazzi calling them heroes. pietro, fred, and todd seemed to be savoring the attention, while wanda stood at the side.
“i’ll talk to you later, okay?” he sighed, pecking your cheek before meeting his praised team.
when you and the other x-men returned to the mansion, everyone was appalled that the brotherhood of all people were the heroic mutants suddenly. this continued for the whole week, with them apparently planning stunts to make them look like heroes.
that landed you on the doorstep of their dingy, worn down home, knocking on the door. you barely passed the interviewers outside their home. and apparently, it was being renovated with donations from the woman lance had rescued the first time, when it wasn’t intentional.
