You and Aaron had started dating almost two years after Haley was killed, leaving Hotch a single dad. You didn't want to intrude, so never planned on confessing. He only found out about your feelings due to Garcia accidentally saying how you felt out loud, which he heard.

Now, two years later- and the two of you have been dating for 8 months; and inevitably, Jack grew attached to you as well.

It was 6:45, and you two were tucking in Jack as Hotch read him an old kid's story. Aaron had to pick him up from school earlier at 11:00 AM because he ended up getting sick in class and was running a low-grade fever.

"And, the end.." Aaron concluded, leaning over the bed to hug his 7 year-old son. You couldn't help but smile at the interaction of the two boys you loved dearly. Gently embracing the little boy, he mumbled a few words that stopped you in your tracks, and left Aaron stunned for a few seconds.

"Goodnight, mama.." Jack whispered, snuggling into his blue dinosaur blanket.

Both you and Aaron quietly left the room so he could sleep, him turning on the nightlight before leaning against the wall in the hallway. It was clear that you were still in shock, as Jack had always called you by name- you didn't make him call you anything because you didn't want to make him feel like he was replacing Haley.
