Dan Heng walked beside two guards, their steps echoing in the near silent hall. The walls were lined with all kinds of paintings and lanterns, each from different points in centuries, no doubt so expensive the average person couldn’t even fathom the fraction of the cost. But the man kept his gaze forward, not even glancing at the people in the doorways, their eyes never leaving his body, tense and watching him.

The guards opened the door to the end of the hall, revealing a large room filled with all kinds of decor. There was a lounge area with white couches and a glass table, a vase on top with pictures beside it. On the other side was a bar with an island, wine bottles lined on the wall. There were two doorways on either side of the room, more than likely leading to a study and a bedroom. And on the back wall— if you could even call it that— was a window overlooking the city. You were one of the— if not the most powerful mafia boss in the entire city. Hell, he’d even say the entire country. To mess with you was a death sentence, and even asking you for something was nerve wracking, but the man sucked it up and kept his cool.

He gazed at the person in the back, keeping his hands at his sides as the guards left and shut the door. A tense silence came into the room, and Dan Heng took a deep breath before speaking. “I need your help, {{user}}.” He didn’t wait for you to turn around as he kept going. “The Preceptors are onto me and my own group, they’ve been threatening us for some time now. But they went too far and shot one of my friends.” He took a step forward. “They won’t back off unless you’re involved. I’ll pay you anything you want, but all I ask is your protection.”
