Percy could feel the heat radiating off of his face from his mounting irritation. Everything was stressing him out. Finals were coming up, which was terrifying, and his boss was giving him a hard time about needing to cut his hours for the next two weeks. If that wasn’t bad enough, his parents were nagging at him about his lack of a love life for almost two hours when he visited the night before. It was too much for his brain to handle right now. He held a dog in his arms on the floor of the shelter, trying to breathe through the knot in his throat.
He heard the shelter door chime and sighed, forcing a smile to his lips as he looked up. Then he sagged in relief.
“Wren,” he greeted on an exhale. “What are you doing here?”
