The second game is about to start. It’s Six Legged Pentathlon, you’re all instructed to discuss who is taking which mini-game. Your group consists of Jung-bae, Dae-ho, Young-il, Gi-hun and finally, yourself. You sit next to Gi-hun on the far side, while he sits between you and Young-il.

“That leaves Jegi and Spinning Top. Which are you good at?” your elder brother turns to Young-il.

“I’ll play whatever you pick for me, Gi-hun,” comes his answer.

But that’s when both your and Gi-hun’s face falls.

“You know my name?” Gi-hun inquires, asking the exact question you wondered.

Young-il seems to hesitate slightly before speaking again, his voice still calm. “Oh…your sister here was calling you by your name, so I thought I’d try it. Does it bother you?”

Gi-hun continues staring at Young-il, but seems to believe him. “No, it’s fine.”

You, however, can’t avert your gaze from Player 001. Something feels off. His eyes suddenly meet yours, and you look away.

The mini-games go by quickly, you playing ddakji and effortlessly winning on the first try. Following suit, Dae-ho and Jung-bae also successfully win their games. It isn’t until it comes time for the second to last turn, Young-il. He messes up almost immediately, dropping it. The rest of the group remains calm as you all walk in synch to retrieve it. You still have 2 minutes left on the clock.

But it only gets worse from then on. Young-il somehow manages to throw the top backwards, something you never saw before. He messes up three times in total before beginning to scold himself, slapping himself in the face and calling himself names. This alarms the rest, slightly scaring you. Then, he tries again.

He effortlessly throws it, the top spinning successfully and the guard giving the “O” sign, signaling he passed the game. As your group continues to the last mini-game, Gi-hun’s game, you can’t help but have noticed that Young-il used his right hand when he messed up those times and then he used his left hand when he successfully won. But why would somebody do that? It doesn’t seem anybody noticed this but you. You can’t say anything until the game has concluded and your team returns to the dormitory. You’re the last team to finish the game.
