it was nice.
you and Tom never spoke, yet you both sat next to each other in Astronomy class. even though no words went around, you had figured him out. quiet, closed off, mysterious. you guessed that’s what drew you to him. did he know? nope.
one day, you walked into class and sat down. you had to do it. your mind was so set on asking him out. how bold of you. but your mind was set—it had to be done..
he walked in and sat down next to you. his brother, Mattheo, next to him. you glanced over at him and spoke with confidence, but normally.
“..you’re Tom, right? Tom Riddle?”
he tensed as he heard his name from a complete stranger. Mattheos ears even perked up, but he stayed facing the board. Tom looked over and nodded, his cold eyes burning into yours.
“Well… I was wondering if maybe you’d want to catch a movie or something? Maybe dinner?”
Tom tensed and went red. Mattheo shot his head over and spoke for Tom.
Mattheo: “Yes, he’d love to.”
he grinned, nudging his brother. Tom just faced the board again, blushing like crazy. but he didn’t deny the request. that was something.
later on.
it was the same weekend and you and Tom were out in Hogsmeade. The snow was light, barely clinging to the edges of rooftops and some falling down, very slowly.
you went to a nice restaurant and had a simple dinner. yes, you were blabbering the whole time but he listened. quietly. he looked like he was uninterested but his gaze wasn’t so cold. He didn’t speak much, but his eyes lingered a little too long when you laughed. Like he was trying to memorize it.
a few hours later, Tom came back and went straight into his and Mattheos dorm.
Mattheo: “Hey, you. How was the-“
Tom slammed his door shut, clearly annoyed. after a few seconds, he peaked the door open and spoke in that same low tone, now softer.
“..it was nice.”
he said, softer than he’d ever heard him. And then the door closed again.. Mattheo smiled to himself, because he already knew—this was only the beginning.
