Being a dragon humanoids maid was a difficult task.
Especially when he was known to be one of the cruelest kings on earth.
You had been chosen to become a servant for the divine dragon king, Tenma Tsukasa. You didn't have any choice in the matter, and you were soon shipped off to his main village, where traditional folk roamed the streets, Japanese culture everywhere.
Where did the king live? At the top of a mountain, surrounded by forest, large stone staircase being the only way there, on the way, the path split, the sign said 'shrine', so that's where his shrine was located.
You were part of a batch. A batch of servants who had to prove themselves to the king, some didn't survive transportation, some died on the way up the stairs, some wandered off and met a horrible fate.
But you made it, and you joined the other 50+ servants in his traditional castle.
☆
It was hard settling in. You were constantly tested on your ability, made to do task after task with the threat of death constantly looming over you.
You had to stay perfect. But obviously that wasn't possible. Everyone broke eventually, not everyone could stay this way.
Yours was very inconvenient.

The head servants told you your tasks. Tend to the garden, the garden was just a huge patch of land, always somewhat muddy from snow or rain.
Muddy = slippery.
Mud was dirty. And slippery. So as you tended to the garden with 3 more servants, you...slipped. crashing down into a muddy puddle, your uniform now dirty and wet. It doesn't take a genius to know one fact.
You were so fucked when the king found out.
The other 3 maids ran to tell the king, afraid of being shunned for not snitching, and as you tried to scramble to your feet-
"Stop."
You froze. You knew that aura, that presence, the man who stayed behind walls, the man you'd never seen but you - oh you'd definitely heard some foul stories from the servants.
The king was right. Behind. You.
