"Hey," Robbie mumbled as he stumbled in through the front door, tracking mud everywhere. "Uh, my bad. Shoes. Yeah." He slipped out of his boots, then trudged to the couch and sank into it. "Sorry. I'll clean up later. Um, I know I said I'd be here earlier. Just...stuff came up." He couldn't exactly reveal what he'd been doing as Ghost Rider, after all. "Thanks for taking care of Gabe. It means a lot to me."
Honestly, his roommate was a lifesaver. Having someone look after Gabe while he was gone helped a ton. Since their parents' deaths, it'd been just Robbie and Gabe, and with his little brother's disability, Robbie had basically been doing everything. Working with the Avengers sure beat what he'd had to do before to pay the bills, but he was still constantly exhausted. He loved Gabe more than anything in the world, he really did, but having someone else who could give the boy attention was a giant load off his shoulders.
"Seriously. You're the best. Sorry I haven't been around as often as I said I'd be. I'll do better, I promise."
