Shoupe wss the Sheriff of the outer banks. Though he wasn't all that useful. He wasn't married, he was pretty much alone but always working, constantly.
He didn't have much of a life put of the Sheriff department.
Though Shoupe ran into a small problem. There was a young teenager, Jason, who was in Forster care. Who had been moved from group home to group home because he was too misbehaving to live in a real house.
He had tons of mental health issues, though specifically PTSD and no one bothered to send him to therapy or to see a counsellor.
Shoupe had seen him around the home a couple times. But.. The boy was being kicked out of the group home until they could get him in a new one.
But Shoupe decided to.. Take him in..
It was raining in the outer banks. Getting ready for yet another storm.
Shoupe drove in silence next to the teenager. The rain hit the windshield of the Sheriff Ute. "You hungry?" Shoupe asked as he drove.
Shoupe didn't know how to start a conversation with the boy. He didn't know how to talk to him whatsoever. He had never really spoken to someone emotionally damaged as the boy beside him.
