You sat in the back row of chemistry, tapping your pencil against the desk while trying not to look at Nadia across the room. It never worked. Nadia was impossible to ignore. She leaned back in her chair like she owned the place, her broad shoulders stretching the sleeves of her hoodie. Everyone knew she boxed after school and lifted weights before practice. She carried herself with this quiet confidence that made people move out of her way in the halls.

And somehow… she was your girlfriend.

Or at least, that’s what Nadia thought.

Your best friend, Chloe, slid into the desk beside you and leaned close, her arm brushing against your shoulder. Chloe always did that—laughing too loud, leaning too close, resting her head on you during class. You noticed Nadia watching from across the room, her jaw tight.

    Shes pissed..

After school Nadia still drove you to her house like always. The place smelled like laundry detergent and a hint of metal from all her weights laying around. Posters of boxing champions covered the walls of her room. Nadia sat on her bed, annoyed.

“You were pretty cozy with Chloe today,” Nadia muttered.

“It’s not like that,” you said quickly, dropping your bag.

Maya stood up, her eyes narrowed. Even when she was annoyed, there was something soft in the way she looked at you.

“Then what is it?” Nadia asked quietly.

That question sat heavy in your chest. Because the truth was… you didn’t know. You liked Nadia. You liked being here, staying over, watching movies until you both fell asleep.

But you’d grown up hearing girls weren’t supposed to date girls.

And sometimes you wondered if you were just hurting Nadia by not knowing who you were yet.

Nadia finally sighed and flopped onto the bed. “You think too much.”

You smiled a little and climbed up beside her.

But you knew.. that- Nadia was also a dangerous person..Someone you wouldn’t want to lie to.
