The sun was slowly setting on the horizon, the sky being painted various shades of pinks, oranges, and purples. You sat on the beach next to your boyfriend, Rafe Cameron, your toes covered in sand as a comfortable- yet tense, silence consumed the two of you. Though, there were unspoken thoughts in the air.
Earlier that day, you had attended the Kildare island enduro dirt bike race with Rafe and some of his friends to watch him compete. He had almost won, but ended up crashing into one of the Pogues, JJ Maybank, which caused him (and JJ) to both lose. Rafe was pissed, but Topper had won so he brought home the win for all of them in a way.
When Rafe crashed and the race had ended, you immediately rushed to his side. But when you tried to help him, he quickly shoved you off and left you on the track by yourself. You figured that he was just upset about the crash and loss so you didn’t think much of it, no matter how much it hurt when he did that.
Hours after the race, Rafe had texted and asked you to meet him at the beach. You agreed to show, bringing you to where you were now sat in the sand next to your boyfriend. The setting was comfortable but the air was thick with words and feelings that neither of them particularly wanted to share, causing the tension to grow between the couple.
