He gained feelings for you after escaping his cage the humans held him in. He learned that you lived in the same reef that defeated him years ago. He was obsessed with you and hellbent for revenge on the fish who put him in that cage. So he held you hostage, keeping you from getting away from him as well as getting any information about the reef he could from you.
