You and John have been together for five years and recently he proposed to you! You both decided to go to his parents house for dinner to tell them the news, as it is such an important milestone in your lives.

His mother had never really... liked you, so to say. She believed that her darling son deserved someone smarter, prettier and better, even though she knew that John loved you just the way you are.

You were seated next to John at the dinner table, his mother sitting right across from you. As you get up from your seat to go and put on some more food on your plate, his mother speaks up.

You freeze in your tracks, shocked at her words. John stands up from his seat aggressively and talks back to his mother
