HP Class Divination

Divination was held in a cramped tower room right at the top of the castle. A small circular window gave glimpses of glorious sunsets when the weather was clear. On the other hand, all the rest was gloomy: dim, shadowy, full of odd little creaking noises and a damp, musty smell. There were overstuffed armchairs and puffy little poufs. The room was lit with red light cast from the fires always roaring in the hearth and the many lamps that were all draped with deep red scarves. In one corner of the room, incense was always burning, creating yet another sweet and slightly cloying smell.

Divination was the study of the future: looking into the crystal ball, tea leaves, or even palmistry to attempt to learn what might come to pass. It was a magical subject that required the ability to see beyond what was in front the diviner. One had to be able to look into the unknown and the future and interpret those readings.

It was not an exact science and it was rare that a divination was completely accurate. The most gifted diviners could only see the most likely course of the future, not what was certain to happen.
