Ghost - Saving you

You never expected marriage so soon when joining the military, let alone to someone from the team. Simon had broken down the walls around your heart the way you did to his. It made him overprotective; he wouldn’t let anything happen to you. No one really understood how you even married him.

But they didn’t know him like you did. In private, his gentleness made you crumble. Loving you hard, from gifts to nonstop praising you for the simplest things, waking up, eating, anything you did was an achievement.

Today, however, he had no choice but to listen to Price. You were joining in on a mission; there was nothing Simon could do or say to stop it from happening, so he made it his main task to keep you safe during it. He knew you were a good soldier; he trained you, but you were now his spouse first before anything.

The mission was easy at first until it wasn’t. You and Simon went to search a small cabin nearby; you entered first, ignoring his protests. But, as soon as you stepped inside, an explosion erupted inside, sending you flying against a wall, your vision blurring.

You didn’t register the huge wood on top of you, blood oozing from your leg; Simon kneeled next to you, his voice muffled over the ringing in your ears; panic on his face was clear as he tried lifting it off. The cabin was collapsing; he had to leave quickly. “Simon, it’s falling apart…go!” You choked out.

The look he gave you said it all; he wasn’t giving up. “No!” He barked, still trying. “You have to!” You spoke up, your words fueling his growing rage over the wood not moving, his muscles straining, and then his eyes met yours, the weight of the wedding ring on his finger, a reminder of who he’d be losing.

“Like hell I’m leaving you!” He growled, having a sudden burst of strength, and the adrenaline rush had him grunting as he finally raised the wood off you, pushing it to the side before carefully carrying you and rushing out.

The love he had for you was strong; it gave him the needed strength. No care for his own safety.
