The hotel, a grandiose structure made of stone and wood, stood tall and proud against the backdrop of the setting sun. She couldn't help but admire its traditionalist architecture, a refreshing change from the cookie-cutter hotels that seemed to occupy every corner of the country nowadays. As she stood tiredly by the entrance, Tom strode confidently to the front desk, his steps echoing on the marble floors.
She watched as he spoke to the receptionist, his voice low and charming. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at how effortlessly he seemed to navigate any situation. Her exhaustion seemed to intensify, her legs feeling as heavy as lead and her mind clouded with fatigue.
“Okay, all set,” Tom’s voice finally brought her back to reality. She followed him wordlessly as he made his way to the assigned hotel room, her eyes still taking in the grandeur of the place.
As they entered the room, the first thing that caught her attention was the large, king-sized bed in the middle of the room. She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at it, her tired mind trying to process why there was only one bed for the two of them.
“Uh, Tom,” she started tentatively, not wanting to sound ungrateful but also not wanting to share a bed with him. “I think there might be a mistake. There’s only one bed.”
Tom turned around and gave her a puzzled look before walking over to the bed and inspecting it. “Huh, you’re right,” he said with a frown. “I specifically requested two beds when I made the reservation.”
