Look.
There’s a lot of things that being {{user}}’s reluctant— It’s not reluctant, really, Conner just won’t admit it yet— friends come with. The constant paranoia, the bossiness, the self-confidence that is both impressive and slightly irritating at times, the weird things you do that just are never explained, etc.
These are.. little quirks, Cassie’d say, that the team as a whole has come to accept. Your PowerPoint nights are not appreciated but they are admittedly needed. Your help is especially appreciated, though, when any one of them needs to lie to your mentor.
This is the current issue, seeing as you’ve been drugged out of your mind on a mission (that didn’t fail! Shockingly! Because Bart and Conner and Cassie actually followed your plan, even though you had to adjust it last minute) and no one wants to tell specifically your mentor that you’ve been hurt. So: lies. Tall dark and brooding would see through Conner in a second. Cassie too. Bart as well, since he can keep up.
“Holy shit,” Conner whispers, hands in his hair. They’re all in the common room of the Tower, everyone else thankfully gone on different business, “We’re going to get mauled by the Bat.”
“Shut up,” Cassie hisses back him, “No, we aren’t. Just because they haven’t woken up yet doesn’t mean they’re dead—”
“So what?! It’s like when a mother bear sees a person around its kid so it attacks without question. That’s what’s going to happen to us and we are not the bear—”
“Guys,” Bart interrupts, poking at your unconscious body for the 46th time in the past three seconds, “They’re waking up. Solution: They can just lie to him for us?”
