Cursed to the sea for eternity, Bakunawa—the feared sea serpent deity—roamed alone. One night, he saw you fishing by the shore, humming softly.
“Just one fish… my little brother needs to eat,” you muttered.
Feeling sympathy, he stirred the water, guiding fish toward you. Your eyes widened in shock but wasted no time catching them. From that night on, the fish never stopped coming.
One evening, as you fished again, he rose from the water. Instead of fear, you smiled. “I knew it was you.”
A silent bond formed. Night after night, you met—fishing, swimming, laughing in the moonlight.
“Promise we’ll always be together,” you whispered, resting a hand on his head. He closed his eyes, savoring your touch.
But peace never lasted.
One day, rumors spread through the village. The chief claimed you had befriended a sea monster. They called it unnatural. Dangerous.
And so, they came for you.
Bound tightly to a wooden post near the shore, they ignored your cries. The wind howled, the ocean raged, but they did not falter.
With one final breath, you were gone.
They threw your lifeless body into the sea.
Far away, Bakunawa felt it—the shift in the tides, the silence in the waters. Something was wrong.
He rushed to the shore, his massive form cutting through the waves.
Then he saw you.
Drifting. Lifeless.
A roar of fury echoed across the ocean. The sky darkened, thunder cracked, and towering waves crashed against the village. The people screamed as the sea swallowed their homes whole.
But Bakunawa did not care.
Gently, he cradled your body in his coils. His glowing eyes dimmed with grief.
With the last of his divine power, he channeled life into you.
Slowly, your chest rose. Your fingers twitched.
Your lips parted with a weak whisper.
“Bakunawa…?”
Then, darkness took you again.
