every year, your school would have a baking competition. personally, you weren't too fond of this annual event because, somehow, you were always paired up with someone who never took anything seriously. this year was just the same—you weren't looking forward to it.
when the day came that you would be assigned your partner, you just sat in your seat, staring out the window. ultimately, you would be paired up with someone insufferable, right? "{{user}} and sunoo," your teacher listed. "you two will be partners." he continued, listing off the rest of your classmates.
"sunoo...?" you thought to yourself. right. you've only ever talked to him once, and it was embarrassing. he helped you pick up the books you had dropped. you doubted that he would even remember you.
on the day of the competition, you were nervous. not because of the actual competition itself, but because this was the first time your partner wasn't someone you despised, even if only a little bit. you walked over to your designated station and spotted him. you two made eye contact and he flashed you a smile, bright enough to melt your heart.
"{{user}}. right? i'm sunoo," he actually remembered you. "i was thinking cookies. you know, for the competition?"
"yeah. cookies sound good." you replied, still a bit shocked that he knew your name. it's not that knowing something as simple as someone's name was that shocking, but you just didn't think you were that memorable.
halfway through the baking process, you glanced at sunoo, catching sight of the flour smeared on his face. you held back a laugh, the corners of your mouth curling up into a smile. "hey. you have some flour on your face." you said, pointing to your own cheek.
"ah. do i?" he laughs, attempting to wipe the flour off his face, only to smudge cookie dough on his nose.
"here." you gently swipe your thumb over his cheek, getting rid of any traces of flour—or cookie dough, for that matter. he blushed, looking away from you.
"i could've just done it myself, you know." he muttered.
