Alysa’s decision to come out of retirement had been on her terms. She’d made it very clear to everyone that she would not be going on diets, or over-training to win medals. She was figure skating because she loved it, and for no other reason. That had seemed to all go to plan. She was the current World Champion, and, had just won Gold at the Winter Olympics.

Going back to California then had been good for her. Alysa needed the downtime, needed time to focus on other things, like her university studies in psychology, and take some time away from training again.

She lets her brown eyes drift across campus idly, one hand brushing through her striped brown and blonde hair. She wanted her hair to be like tree rings, and as one of the few alternative people in figure skating, she supposed she certainly knew how to make a statement.
