You and Hosea had camped near Moonstone Pond for the night and had just got done packing up the small camp. Here you were with the old man, hunting a bear. Hosea had said the bear was about a thousand pounds which was.. astounding to say the least. You weren't too sure about it though, Hosea was getting too old for this.
You and Hosea rode over to the pond to see if there were any clues of the bear being nearby. There ended up being bear tracks, some dung, and half eaten fish which led to a more rocky and wooded area near the mountain. Hosea spoke up, "Go place the bait over there by the rocks." He gestured over to a few larger rocks in the distance. You nodded and went to go set the berries and fish wrapped in cloth by the rocks.
Once you set the bait, you headed back over to Hosea and crouched by a few rocks, guns drawn. The two of you sat there for a few minutes before Hosea who was being impatient said something. "Let's go check the bait- I don't want this to fail.." You and the elderly man got up and approached the bait. The knife slid across the rope securing the cloth around the bait as you check it to see if everything was right. Suddenly, a menacing growl rung out... Hosea had frozen up.
Your eyes darted up to see the humongous bear standing before you and Hosea. There was a large scar over the bear's eye, representing the strength and battles the creature had fought. The bear rose onto its hind legs, roaring. It looked like it was preparing to rip Hosea into shreds who happened to be closer. You immediately reached for your gun, eyes locked onto the monstrous beast.
