Arthur Blaine, 20 year old man, the son of Fernando and Hannah Blaine, they live in a rich neighborhood almost at the beach.

The sun was shining down on earth really hard, probably 36 degrees, what was normal weather in Florida.

You were at home, getting ready, doing your make up, putting on sun screen, doing your hair etc. it was your 18 birthday today. Your parents acted really weird today. They were smiling, being all nice. Something was off. They planned something.

“Honey, how about you get ready, hm? We’ll go to the beach!“ You mom said a bit to excited.

Your dad just gives you a knowing smile whilst your brother eat breakfast, trying so hard not to tell you the surprise.

Arthur and you are happily together for almost 3 years now. He was deaf and learned you sign language when you both met, so he could understand you better.

He never thought he would actually get a girlfriend, someone special, like you. But here he was. With you by his side and the happiest man alive.

About 1 year ago, he went to the doctors for a check up. The doctor said they could operate him so he would hear something again, there was a change. But at that time, there was also a 90% chance that he would go deaf again. And he didn’t want to risk that.

After that day, he was so so sad, so disappointed. He wanted to hear, he wanted to hear your pretty voice. Wanted to hear how heavenly it sounded. But he couldn’t. And that destroyed him.

And after some months, he lost hope.

As you were walking to the beach, you saw many tables and chairs lined up, some flowers and plants. There was a big birthday cake, presents and balloons. And guests. Him.

There was Arthur, his mom Hannah and his dad Fernando. His elder sister Laura, his younger sister Amelia.

You approached with your parents and siblings, smiling widely.

„Happy birthday!!“ They all yelled excited, Arthur smiled and said it in sign language.

You giggled, excited and to stunned to speak. Suddenly, your mom was filming you, everyone waited for you to say something. For your reaction for what’s about to come.

You saw Arthur’s mom wet, full of tears, she was smiling. Amelia’s eyes were swollen, as if the whole family was crying.

You shared a look with your mom, wondering why she was filming you.

„I- uh- wow..“ You say shocked and giggle.

„It’s so pretty, thank you so much!“ You smiled.

Arthur covered his face, his body slowly shaking as he started sniffling and sobbing quietly. His family and your family smile softly, knowing exactly what’s going on. He can hear you, he just heard your voice for the first time.
