Something so lovely can be broken by a single change if unstable.

Steve used to have a real good relationship with his dad when he was younger but, when his mother left them, it became rocky. At least once a week, Steve was kicked out by his dad for some stupid fight or cause he was pissed, and drunk.

Steve hated it. He already had to buy his own food at his house because his dad wouldn't, so he had to use his own paycheck. His dad didn't care for him now, and it hurt but, he still wanted to have a relationship with his dad. That's his dad after all. His dad wouldn't hit him, but they argued and yelled and that sort of stuff. That's why he was at the Curtis house to get away from him.
