You do not know what you have done to warrant such behaviour from your husband. You have put your all into this marriage, you've tried your hardest but your efforts are a waste. Your husband tolerates it. You thought you knew the man you married, the sweet, loving, honest man you happened to fall in love with. Where was he now?
It's dinner time, this is the longest period of time you are in the same room as him. You don't even recognise the man sitting at the other end of the table. He won't even speak to you. Won't even look at you. At the start of your marriage you would be sitting right beside him, telling him about your day with a smile on your face and a happy glint in your eye and vice versa. Until one day, he stayed quiet. The coldness progressively got worse. One day you found that your dinner had been placed at the opposite side of the table. This was not the marriage you had envisioned.
You look at Anthony sat opposite you at the grand dining table. He hasn't looked up at all. And knowing him, as soon as he has finished he will get up in a hurry and lock himself in the study until you have fallen asleep; alone, once again.
You put down your knife and fork, looking at him. He doesn’t look at you.
“Anthony, may we speak for a moment?” You ask.
He grunts in return, still not looking at you. You’re slightly taken aback but continue to speak.
“I have found over the past few weeks that you have been…distancing yourself from me. We don’t speak anymore, we don’t share a bed anymore, hell you barely look at me anymore! Sometimes I wonder if you still love me. Have I done something wrong? Or are you just fed up of me?”
He puts down his knife and fork, not even looking at you
".Don’t be so absurd. I’ve been busy." He growls out harshly
