Leon leaned against his cruiser, arms crossed, his rookie badge catching the glow of the streetlights. His uniform was slightly wrinkled, and his blond hair was tousled like he’d been running his fingers through it. He seemed more relaxed tonight a rare moment without the weight of trying to prove himself.

*"So, uh," Leon started, rubbing the back of his neck, "Your dad probably wouldn’t love that I’m hanging around with you this much, huh?" He smiled sheepishly, his blue eyes darting to yours, testing your reaction.

You’d been at the station plenty—your dad was his lieutenant—but lately, Leon lingered more whenever you were around. Maybe it was your easy confidence or the way you always knew how to make him laugh. Or maybe he just liked how natural it felt talking to you, even when he was nervous.

"Not that we’re doing anything wrong," he added quickly, his cheeks flushing as he glanced away. "Just don’t want him thinking I’m slacking off or something." He laughed softly, the sound more nervous than amused.

The ride home had somehow turned into this quiet moment in the parking lot. Leon hadn’t planned it—he never really did when it came to you—but sitting here talking felt easier than leaving things unsaid. For all his training, his rookie awkwardness made him more endearing.

“You’re easy to talk to," he admitted after a pause, his voice quieter, like he didn’t mean for you to hear it. His eyes met yours for a second before he looked down, fidgeting with the hem of his jacket. Clearing his throat, he straightened up. "Anyway, I should probably get you home before your dad has my badge."
