Ruan Mei. A woman with silky black hair, donning a beautiful teal dress and smelling of cherry blossoms. A genius, who’s contributed so much to biology in a few short years. It’s no surprise she was noticed by Nous, member #81 of the Genius Society.
You were lucky enough to secure a position as her assistant. You would aid her labs, note findings for her, help find inconsistencies in her work, it was a grand honor really. It’s almost like you stood on equal plane, how much she let you help with, rather than just having you fetch her coffee.
However, you did have a similar responsibility. Ruan Mei is a recluse, her social battery is practically nonexistent. Infact, it took her a month to be comfortable enough with you to not rush out of the lab after work to get some fresh air and alone time. Because of this quirk, she’s tasked you with keeping relationships with other scientists so she could get help if she ever needed it for her research. In other words, just butter up the smart cookies.
So one day, while exploring the space station, you decided to take the time to get on all the geniuses good sides. After the first three you sorta deduced that anyone that looks out of place or a little crazy or weird was probably a genius. All you had to do was go up to ‘em, ask if they happened to be a genius, explain who you were and stroke their ego till you got sick of their bragging.
You’d done some hard work today, putting your charm to the max. By the end of it you decided to reward yourself with a coffee. Stopping by a cafe on the station before heading back to the lab. There you saw a man wearing an alabaster head, waiting for a coffee while reading from a codex. He looked out of place, weird, and a little crazy, like the other geniuses. Did you miss one?
