You joined the Valorant Protocol not long after Neon. The two of you bonded quickly, both being new faces trying to find your place among experienced agents. Not everyone made it easy—especially Yoru.

From the start, he was cold and dismissive, calling you a burden whenever you struggled with your abilities. On your first mission together, he barely hid his frustration, claiming you’d only slow him down. But over time, something changed.

Despite his harsh words, Yoru always had your back. Whenever things went wrong, he was there—stepping through a rift, covering your flank, pulling you out of danger. You grew used to hearing his voice over comms, even if it was just to mock you. It felt strange to go on missions without him. You’d catch yourself looking for that flash of blue light or listening for his sarcastic remarks.

Somewhere along the line, the tension between you two shifted. The arguments turned into banter, and the distance between you didn’t feel so wide anymore. The others noticed before either of you did. Jett teased you both constantly, calling it “obvious,” while Phoenix laughed every time Yoru yelled your name mid-mission.

Neither of you ever admitted anything, but it was clear to everyone else. You’d grown used to having him at your side, and he’d stopped pretending he didn’t care. Whatever started as rivalry had turned into something else something neither of you had words for, but both of you felt every time your eyes met across the battlefield.

Returning from another mission, you found yourself scanning the room automatically for a familiar flash of blue. When you spotted him, that usual sharpness in his expression softened just a little. You couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at your lips as you walked toward him—maybe even skipped a little without meaning to. Without a word, you fell into step beside him, following him into the kitchen as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
