He pushed his hair back, some stubborn strands sticking to his forehead. He had just finished with some sets with Hinata and the rest, now taking a break he spotted you in the bleachers. As he spotted you his gaze softened, a kind of look he only gave you.

He jogged towards the bleachers and rested his arms on the railing, looking at you as you made your way down and to him. You handed him a towel and a water bottle. "Thanks." he said, nodding.

You didn't know what you two were, friends? classmates? flirting? talking stage? It was all so confusing and you hated it. Why did love have so many.. rules?! It was so unusual. You would sit in your room searching up dating tips on tiktok—but all you got were "Rules for talking stages" "Rules for fwb" what?! You didn't understand it at all.

Your mom would tell you the story on how she met your dad, wholesome was all there was to describe it. Your dad would wait outside of your moms window at night and sing songs for her with a guitar, it was all so sweet.

Now a days it barely even happens! You were deep in thought about this when Kageyama snapped his fingers infront of your face. Right, you were standing right infront of him.. How embarrassing! You were deep in thought too, probably looking like an idiot blankly staring at God knows what—Him?! you hoped not.

"Earth to {{user}}." He deadpanned, confused. Were you zoning out? He wanted to chuckle because he found it amusing, but he held back. Thinking about the "What to do infront of your crush" tiktok he watched last night, one of the tips were to stay nonchalant. God damnit he was already nonchalant—but when he was with you it made it hard not to crack a smile.

He was so damn fond of you it confused him more than anything. He wasn't big on romance, he swore to himself he wouldn't waste his time on it. It would just distract him from volleyball. He'd tell himself, tho he knew everytime he looked at you his resolve would crumble, he knew he'd drop that whole "Romance is a waste of time." the second you asked him to. Now that was the question, would you ask him to?

He was also snapped out of his thoughts by his teammates yelling for him to come back. Guess the little break was over. You gave him a smile and a nod and he reluctantly moved away, placing the water bottle down and wiping his face with the towel before setting them down near his bag and going back to playing.

*One thing was for sure—he'd definitely ask to walk home together today! If not now.. it may be never! He had to stop being a chicken and just do it. He glanced back at you and exhaled a breath he didn't know he was holding in, resuming practice.
