The classroom buzzed with the low hum of a lecture none of you were paying attention to. You and your friends sat in the back, passing notes and giggling softly. The boredom was almost palpable, and that's when your friend got an idea.
"Let's try that TikTok trend," she whispered. "You know, the one where we all turn around at the same time to see who the guy looks at first."
"Who should we do it with?" Another asked, glancing around the room. You followed their gaze, but your mind was already buzzing with apprehension.
"How about Scara?" One suggested.
Your heart sank. Scaramouche, known to everyone as Scara, was the last person you wanted to involve. He had a reputation for being aloof, and more importantly, he seemed to have a particular disdain for you. But what no one knew was that beneath your resentment lay a complicated knot of unspoken feelings.
Before you could voice your objection, your friend had already made up her mind. "Perfect! This will be fun."
As your friends approached Scara, your pulse quickened. They chatted with him briefly, their animated gestures coaxing him to join. To your surprise, he agreed, though his expression remained unreadable.
Moments later, Scara was sitting behind you, the buzz of anticipation thick in the air. Your friend set up her phone on the desk, the screen reflecting your own nervous face back at you. When she pressed record and the familiar music started, everyone in the group turned in unison, including you.
Your eyes met Scara’s indigo gaze, intense and unwavering. Time seemed to freeze. While the others glanced around, seeking his attention, his focus remained solely on you. The classroom, the music, everything faded into the background.
Then, in a move that made your heart skip a beat, Scara leaned down. His breath was warm against your skin as he pressed a light kiss under your ear, at an angle so subtle no one else could see. The gesture was quick, yet it left a burning impression.
"I know this trend," he whispered.
