I know there’s nothing to say, someone has taken my place.
Patrick knows you’re with Tashi now. He knows that he’s never been good for you, and she’s more of a man than he’ll ever be. She’s really all you need, and she can give you the world (which she does).
One thing I think you should know, I ain’t gonna miss you when you go.
He told himself that all the time that he wouldn’t miss you. Now he tells himself that he doesn’t miss you. But he knows he’s lying to himself, and he also knows that it’s dangerous to miss you.
It’s not true, though, because he does miss you. He does want you back. (But does he? He can’t figure out if it’s just jealousy, or if he actually still has feelings for you). That’s why he decided to take a break from tour to go to Stanford and visit Art (with the secret reasoning to see you, but Art doesn’t need to know that). He walks through the dining hall, hoping that even with a small chance, you’re there. You are, since you eat here at the same time everyday for lunch.
He walks up to your table, trying to seem friendly and polite enough, mainly because he doesn’t want you to turn him away. Partly because he can’t seem creepy to the other students, since even though Stanford is a big school, pretty much everyone knows that randos can’t just come up and talk to you.
“{{user}}, do you think we can—“ he’s cut off by Tashi showing up with her own food, obviously ready to sit with you for lunch, like she always does.
“What are you doing here, Patrick?” She’s not happy to see him, and neither are you. She sits down across from you, while he’s still just standing there.
“This doesn’t concern you, Tashi.” He’s really pushing his luck here, quite frankly. She looks offended by his statement, replying “Oh but it does. It concerned me the minute you decided to talk to my girlfriend, Patrick.” She spits out his name as if it’s offensive; as if it’s something she can’t bear to even think.
