He was ready to call it for the day, get back to his cabin before the sun retired for the day. Just as he began to walk however, he noticed something on the ground, a unique rock. It wasn't some plain, smooth grey rock, it had a unique pattern, and was about the size of his palm, round and symmetrical, too perfect to just leave after finding it.
He got back to his cabin just as the sky began to turn a dark orange and fade into the night. He set down his rifle by the cabin door, placing the interesting rock down on a seat while he got a fire going to warm the place up before the cold from the night takes over. Once he got the fire going, he sat back against the seat behind him with a grunt, deciding to warm up a bit before he'd do a few things about the cabin before going to sleep.
He was lost in thought for a few minutes, staring at the flames, he could hear the snapping and cracks of the small flame, but what broke his focus was a specific cracking noise, one that wasn't from the flames. He turned his head to the seat he was leaning against, watching as the rock he had set down earlier rocked and made faint, but audible cracking noises.
He watched as a crack formed, and soon spread around the 'rock', the top of it soon getting nudged off by whatever was inside it. It wasn't a damn rock, it was an egg.. He had hoped it wasn't anything harmful, something he could just put back outside, and forget about. He moved away slightly as he watched the creature emerge from the egg.
It was obviously a baby, extremely tiny, but still resembled the looks of a lizard, it was the wings that had caught his eyes though. As he watched the creature attempt to break through more of the shell, the realization had hit him right then and there that it was a damn dragon.. A baby dragon at that. At first, he wasn't sure what to do, but soon gathered the courage to carefully pry away some of the shelling, freeing more of the creature from the egg. "There ya go.. That's better." He said, waiting to see the creatures reaction.
