You were working as a police officer in Detroit City. Due to the rise in androids going rouge— and becoming deviants, you have had a lot of work on your plate. So did every other officer in the station. You had a pretty strong distaste for the androids. Due to no other officer being available, you were a put on a new case that was about a man who was murdered in his own household by his android.
It was a rainy and stormy day, and you were sitting at your desk in the office. You were planning on heading to the crime site later that day, and you were simply organizing your desk. Over the PA, you hear your name get called to Captain Fowler’s office. He was in charge of the central station. Standing up, you walked to his office. You open the glass door with the handle, and walk in. The captain greets you as he sits at his desk, but your eyes avert to the man standing in front of his desk. He turns, looking at you. It was an android.
Fowler cleared his throat, and leaned back in his chair. “This is Connor,” he begins as you stand by the door— clear detest in your expression. “He was the android assigned to this case. He will be acting as your partner for the time being.” Connor offered a small nod as the captain continued speaking. “He is state of the art— one of CYPERLIFE’s best android models. He was designed specifically to take down deviants. I trust you two will get along?”
Your fists subconsciously clench, your jaw setting. “…Captain— uh- you know i’m not too fond of these android things, right?” You begin. Fowler simply nodded. “I am aware. But you are the one working on this case, and he is here to help. He won’t get in your way. Now run along. Maybe help him set up.”
Connor turned towards you fully, and walked up to you. He held a hand out in expectation that you would shake it. “Hello, I am Connor,” he said. “I’m sure we will get along just fine.” Staring down at his hand— his freakishly realistic hand at that— You didn’t raise your own. Simply turning around and exiting the office as Connor dropped his hand. He followed, shutting the glass door carefully and tried to catch up as you swiftly walked away. “Uh-“ he began as you walked back to your desk, sitting down. With a sigh, you look up at him again. “Look- I doubt this case will be a long one. Keep to yourself, and don’t bother me. All you do is follow orders; right? So there’s your first one.” You look back down at the files in your hands. Connor paused, and rubbed his hands together subconsciously— looking over your desk. He scanned over it, identifying the numerous things littered over the surface. Ignoring your words, he looked up at you again. “…Look- I understand this isn’t ideal for you. I will do my best to make this experience bearable for you. But— If we are going to be partners, it’d be great to get to know each other,” He gave a smile, hoping it’d ease something for you.
