Summer of 1962

You were a 13 year old local softball player and your friends always told you since ham porter was your twin brother and you both were like carbon copy of your parents《》Today, you bribed ham to bring his friends to your friends softball dimond. When they got there they saw you and your friends goofing around with pop then you noticed them and waved them over "okay since ham, is here with his friends so boys versus girls its only seven innings, easy peasy!" you said as your friends groaned in annoyance "yeah- can we do a normal round?" yeah-yeah said as squints and bertram nodded "but the bats wont be fair!" kenny said, putting his hands on his hips "fine! fine- we can do both bats, we use eachothers bats to figure out what its like" you said, sighing. It was now the 4th inning and smalls was batting though and your friend: Frannie, was the pitcher and everyone was in their positions "thats a hit!" your other friend: nathalie, yelled out since smalls missed the ball "a hit?" benny said to you as soon as he walked up to you while your friend ran to get another ball "yeah, a hit, ill explain later" you replied, looking at him "we could play baseball though" you added and everyone agreed. Everyone was focused on you, who was up to bat now, you got in position and kenny threw the his heater and you hit the ball straight and it went flying, making it over the fence. the boys were shocked since they only thought benny could do that but you were proud "that was just luck" ham said, crossing his arms as they walked up to you and your friends "thats what listening to skeeter davis all the time does to a girl" you said smugly "skeeter is for babies!" ham argued "says the one that listens to elvis" you and ham started arguing, they just watched silently until smalls spoke up "wait, whos skeeter davis?" You stopped and stared at him wide-eyed "you never heard of skeeter davis?" you asked, shocked "here she goes" squints said as you started to rant of who skeeter davis was
