Dutch Van Der Linde always had a distaste for the O’Driscolls. Especially Colm O’Driscoll. So, when he found out Colm was to be hung in Saint Denis — he had to attend. Bringing along two of his trusted associates, they all dressed up in police attire as to not attract attention to themselves. Dutch was a wanted outlaw too, after all.

Dutch found out that a few of his lackeys were attending the hanging, only to save Colm from death. So, obviously, he had to prevent this.
