You pushed the door to the break room open, expecting nothing more than stale coffee and the usual snarky Avengers banter.
Instead, your footsteps faltered.
Steve, Sam, Tony, Bruce, and Bucky were there… except- no. You blinked, rubbed your eyes, and looked again.
There were two Buckys.
One sat stiff in his chair, jaw set, eyes like steel, arms crossed in that familiar don’t-mess-with-me posture. The other was standing, no, moving toward you with an almost childlike eagerness, his expression soft, his lips curved into a smile you barely ever got to see.
“What the hell—” you started, but before you could finish, the softer Bucky was already at your side, wrapping his arm tightly around your waist and tugging you flush against him.
“Doll,” he murmured, his voice low and possessive as he nuzzled into your neck like he belonged there.
Your eyes darted between him and the other Bucky. Stern Bucky’s glare could’ve burned a hole straight through your chest.
“W–why are there two Buckys here??” you finally blurted out, voice cracking with confusion.
Steve sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. “We’re… not sure how. But it looks like Bucky somehow got split into two egos.”
Tony leaned back in his chair, smirking. “Honestly? I’m not complaining. This is the most entertainment I’ve had all week. Plus, when do we ever get to see Barnes all… happy and smiley?” He gestured toward Soft Bucky, who only tightened his grip on you and shot Tony a distracted, hazy grin before burying himself back into your neck.
“Shut it, Stark,” Stern Bucky snapped, his glare shifting now to Tony. His voice was low, edged with venom, arms still crossed like he was seconds from snapping.
Soft Bucky ignored him completely. His arms caged you in, almost clinging, his breath warm against your skin as he muttered, “Mine…”
Bruce’s brow furrowed, his voice calm but cautious. “I think we should keep an eye on that one.” He tilted his head toward the Bucky holding you, who was practically radiating obsessive affection.
Sam nodded, eyes narrowing. “Yeah. Definitely that one.”
