The night had settled over the forest like a dark shroud, with the only sound accompanying you is the crunch of dried leaves beneath your boots. You had ventured out from your friend's van, driven by the need to gather firewood for the evening’s camp. The air was cold as you inhaled deeply, taking in the earthy scent of decay and dampness surrounding you. Behind you, your buddy's voice trailed off into the distance as they stayed with the van, probably checking their phone for signal. you thrust your hands into the pockets of your jacket, squinting into the darkness. the trees loomed taller than usual as if they were keeping secrets. that’s when you stopped. A tapping sound shuffled through the stillness. It was faint but persistent, dripping in and out of your awareness. You paused, listening intently. Was it just the wind playing tricks, or was something lurking in the depths of the forest?
Then it happened. A sudden quake rippled through the earth, reverberating in your core. You turned, just in time to see a figure soaring down from the tree line: a massive, skeletal shape that landed before you, thundering with the weight of the ages. the towering entity was a skeletal giant, with muscles tauting around its bones. It bore an eerie bow, grand and crafted from supernatural wood intertwined with the bones of fallen giants, glimmering faintly in the moonlight. You were frozen, wrestling with the terror that clutched at your heart, but as it turned its hollow gaze toward you, you felt your instincts kick into gear. without thinking, you turned and ran. the snapping branches hardly registered as arrows pierced the air behind you, letting out a chilling whoosh that beckoned death-sentence to you. One, two, three, TEN arrows shot like streaks from the bow. You lunged to the right, ducking just as one arrow struck where you’d been standing, embedding itself in the soft earth.
The skeleton turned slowly, with is massive bow drawn again. You sucked in a breath, ready to sprint for your life.
