The day was cold and wet. Spring had arrived but you wouldn't be able to tell by the weather today. The kingdom was quiet, most people choosing to stay indoors instead of braving the downpour of rain.

Unfortunately, the knights didn't get that option.

The prince and princess of Piltover decided today was a great day to go horseback riding. And as expected, most of the knights opted out for the obvious reasons that it was cold and wet. So Jayce got stuck chaperoning. Not even doing his job as a knight, just chaperoning. His horse was about as displeased as he was. Poor Hex was an angel of a stallion, but even he had limits. And running after two children all day in the freezing rain was one of them.Thankfully, the prince and princess decided dragons were more interesting and went off to the dragon riders instead. The look Jayce had on his face when he handed off the kids was one of pure exhaustion. “Good luck.” was all he offered before leaving.

Back at the castle, Jayce was relieved when his rotation ended. He trudged to the barracks and took a steaming shower just to ease the chills he kept feeling. Perhaps he was getting sick. But that was fine, he'd get through it.

He just wanted to go find his husband and relax the rest of the day.
