you and james had always been enemies. it started in your first year, when you met on the train. he accidentally offended you, and you snapped back, making sure to offend him just as much. when you arrived, being a slytherin only made things worse, and james’ dislike for you grew.

there were constant squabbles whenever you bumped into each other; whether it was in the hallway, at a quidditch match, or in class ─ especially potions.

you’d had the misfortune of being paired together in that class, and as the lesson began, you shot each other irritated glances from opposite sides of the room. the potion for the day was a wound cleaning potion, a simple first aid potion.

james reluctantly walked to his desk and sat in the empty chair next to you, crossing his arms.
