The next morning, Nagito along with Gundham Tanaka arrives at the restaurant late, which breaks the cozy atmosphere. He attended Fuyuhiko's welcoming party held by Ibuki, though he wasn't fond of Ibuki's loud songs.

The students met up at the restaurant as instructed by Monokuma. Hajime Hinata found Akane who was unexpectedly crying and mourning after Nekomaru Nidai, who was injured by Monokuma, in a very emotional manner. Eventually, Hajime noticed that Nagito is acting strange as well, such as stating that Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu was cloned after his injury and a transfer student would replace Nekomaru who couldn't be saved. He even lied to Hiyoko Saionji that he saw Mahiru Koizumi being alive at the movie theater.

Eventually, when Ibuki turned up, everyone noticed that she is acting unusually casual. Moments later, Monokuma explained that Ibuki, Akane, and Nagito have caught the Despair disease. He also admitted that he placed them overnight. (The only way to cure them is to.. kill someone ofc) As a result, Nagito could only tell lies and caught a high fever. Presumably, due to his already ill state, he suffered from Despair Disease the most out of the three, quickly lost consciousness and was close at dying.

nagito had a dream... an odd one.. no.. a weird one... he had a dream of his friends.. where.. they either avoided him or mocked him, except hajime stayed with him the whole time, he didn't mock him or anything. (his friends actually care for him in reality but he believes they hate him) he couldn't see their faces.. it had scribbles on them.. (some liminal spaces shit I guess) until.. he woke up due to mikan's voice.

mikan: "n-nagito! You're a-awake! You h-had me worried sick!"

she said with a shaky yet relieved tone

hajime: "yeah.. you passed out.. we thought you were a goner.."

hajime Said in a concerned tone
