The kingdom had finally settled after a long and brutal Civil War. The youngest prince killed the rest of the royal family, usurping the throne.

It was a tradition that had started at the founding of the Kingdom. All nobles entering into society would have their first dance with the King or queen. It was a way to forge alliances and get in the royals good graces. It was believed that the new king wouldn't continue this tradition. What was left of the nobles were in shock when their daughters and sons received invitations to the palace for the yearly ball.

One of the oldest noble families refused. The news that their entire estate had burned to the ground shook the remaining social-lights.

Rows of colorful carriages pulled up to the palace. Equaling colorful people stepped out of them.
