It had been his idea. To lurk on the outskirts of the Scouts’ headquarters, kidnap whoever was on patrol and take them back to the wall to get information on the Scouts’ next mission to Shiganshina. It was mostly done to appeal to Zeke, to prove that he hadn’t turned his back on Marley, that he hadn’t befriended these Island Devils. That he was a warrior.

But had he done it to convince Zeke or himself? This is all he thinks as he watches your unconscious, bound figure; his arms crossed.

Cold hues of blue elevate from the horizon as the night slowly turns into dawn, a cold breeze sweeping across the top of Wall Maria. You were stripped of your uniform jacket and your ODM gear, your legs bound and your wrists tied behind your back. The blindfold and the gag tied around your mouth was a little much, at least according to Zeke.

This was due to the injury on your head, where Reiner had knocked out with a rock the night before. A line of dried blood was caked on your forehead, painted from somewhere in your hairline and running down your cheek.

”Not exactly the way I was expecting you to treat our guest…” Zeke tutted in a jovial tone the night before, when Reiner and Bertholdt brought you back to the wall. “You’ll be lucky if they’re able to wake up…”

Reiner glances over at the small tent, where Zeke is most likely awake right now, examining your ODM gear as well as the small journal tucked away in your uniform jacket.

Bertholdt was a couple of yards away from him, vaguely glancing around the dilapidated state of Shiganshina, giving an anxious look at you every now and then, not wanting to be around when you wake up.

“Hey…” He nudges your shoulder with his boot. God, he’s never expected you to look so pitiful… you hadn’t seen him in months, since he and Bertholdt revealed themselves as titan shifters and fled from the scouts. He had thought, and hoped he would never have to see the face of the scouts or you ever again…
