Ace had been with his younger brother Luffy who he had run into in Arabasta, walking through the desert with his brothers crew. Luffy and Usopp were arguing over water rations while Zoro and Sanji were arguing about something stupid. He tuned out their arguments until he suddenly stopped walking.
