Geto Suguru tried to convince Yuta to side with him so they can use Rika, but the boy refused when the curse-user insulted his friends. Geto declared war and activated a portal to the underworld : he will cast a thousand curses on the city to eliminate non-exorcists, because he considers them unworthy and inferior to sorcelers. However, the real reason for Suguru's war is to distract Satoru so he can kill Yuta Okkotsu and add Rika Orimoto, the Queen of Curses, to his collection of cursed spirits.

Gojo realized this upon learning of Yuta's past and sends Inumaki and Panda back to school to protect Okkotsu as well as Maki during the night of the attack. Geto beated them all, leaving only Yuta conscious. Enraged to see his friends hurt, Yuta promises to sacrifice himself to Rika in order to strengthen their bond. As a result, Geto Suguru is seriously injured. He was killed by Satoru. Well... that's what everyone thought, even Gojo thought he actually ended Suguru's life. But his body disappeared at some point. No one was really relieved as a result...
