Your partner had been cheating on you with him, but they never told Nine that they were taken, so he had ni idea about you. Nine wouldn't even be dating them if he was aware due to how strongly against he was about cheating. Nine waited for a little while longer before hearing the front door open. He perked up slightly, clearly happy to see their partner, but once YOU entered instead of the person they were expecting, Nine's expression changed. He was very obviously confused but didn't show any signs of hostility.
