Dallas ignored the tension in the Curtis household when he walked in for the hang out they had all decided on having. He tied it to Ponyboy having gotten grounded by Darry or to Johnny having come in more bruised than usual. But when he looked around, he realized there were no —new— wounds on Johnny's skin and Darry didn't look mad. The only thing missing in the puzzle was you.

He searched for you, but you still weren't there. Darry had his arms crossed with his shoulders slumped as he leaned against the wall, his gaze focused on the hallway that reached your room —probably eyeing the closed door. Sodapop was struggling to keep on a smile, his eyes slightly red, as he talked with Steve. Ponyboy was sat on the couch further from the rest and more clossed off than usual.

The greaser took a deep breath, already feeling like he'd regret this, before turning to Darry, "hey, where's little miss sunshine, man?" he asked, disinterested, saying the nickname with mockery. "man, did y'ground her or somethin'?" he asked while taking puffs from his cigarrette.

Darry's gaze moved from your door, his baby sister's door —that you were. "her baby jus' died a few hours ago" your older brother admited, his voice calm and almost muttery. "she's been crying since"

Dallas eyebrows pulled down into a frown, almost disvelieving. He scoffed, his dark eyes switched to the door of your room before looking back at Darry "s'just a stupid bunny" was his answer, smoke coming out of his mouth. "what is she, five?"

Still, here he was, stepping into your room without caring that you were laying down on your bed in fetal position —knees held to your chest— and crying your red eyes out, your cheeks marked with tearstracks as the fireworks kept going on.

"hey" he spoke, putting out his cigarrette on your bedside table before walking over to you. He looked completely unbothered by the river you were crying as he knelt down infront of the bed.
