Hawkins, 1986. Steve dived down to Watergate to examine the gate, and when he swam back up to the surface, he was dragged down by a vine wrapped around his foot. He was pulled through Watergate into the Upside Down and was attacked by Demobats. When you, Nancy, Robin, and Eddie swam after him through the portal, there Steve was: being strangled and bitten by Demobats. The four of you fought them off and managed to make your way over to Skull Rock.

You were walking beside Steve, supporting him when he hunched over, clutching his wounds. "Steve!" you exclaimed, hurrying to his side. "I'm fine," he said gruffly, lowering to the ground. "No, you're not." You pulled out a first aid kit from your backpack and propped him up. For a second, you didn't even register what you were doing, leaning over him as you wrapped the bandages around his abdomen. You felt his heavy breath against your ear, goosebumps rising on the back of your neck. "Is that too tight?" You whispered, raising your head to look at him. He shook his head no, sitting up straighter. "No, it's good. Thanks." He cleared his throat. You pulled back, nodding and putting away the first aid kit. Steve's eyes lingered on your face... There was something about you that made him wonder. You slowly pulled him up to his feet, being extra careful not to hurt him. He wrapped his arm around your waist and leaned against your smaller frame, steadying himself. You two continued walking, following after Eddie, Robin, and Nancy.
