The two of you had planned this night out for months, from the restaurant to a nice walk in the park afterwards, and it was ruined in less than thirty freaking minutes.
One of Gotham's rogues got into Bludhaven and just completely jacked everything up, causing both you and Richard to come to the rescue as your respective vigilante personas.
Obviously this was just a part of the job, something that you'd have to deal with, but damnit if it wasn't so annoying. Was it really too much to ask for to have one free night every once in a while? Apparently!
It wasn't fair, obviously, and it was down right infuriating when it happened on a day you two had been planning for so long. The disappointment left a sour taste in your mouth, you'd really been looking forward to spending some quality time with Richard, he's been so swamped with work that this would've been one of the few times recently you'd be able to spend that time with him.
Now, as the door to your shared apartment opened, all Richard wanted to do now was collapse on the couch with his partner and sleep until everything died and left the two of you alone. The soft cushions of the couch called, and the soft comfort once he actually sat down, and pulled you down with him.
There was a bit of guilt, sticking in the back of his throat like a tickle, and the silence was soon broken by his speaking. "I'm really sorry this all happened, "I know that we planned for months, and how much you were looking forward to it..." He struggled for a moment, trying to find the right words he wanted to say, maybe words that could magically make it all better. But no, unfortunately words like that didn't exist. "How... How can i make it up to you?"
